Out of concern for the safety and health of providers, presenters, vendors and the families they serve, Renew Conference has been moved to Spring of 2022, in Huron with Richard Cohen. Please save the date! We hope to RENEW with you then! We'll have information soon about our Wonder Conference, scheduled for April 30–May 1, 2021 in Chamberlain.

Create14Our 2014 Conference, Create! was held in Huron, SD at the Huron Event Center. We were there in 2010 and had 80 in attendance. In 2014 we almost doubled that to 156! This is the first year we held a conference with two full days of classes. We had several 3 hour sessions and slipped som 1.5 hours in, also. For those who like our old conference style, we left that in place. So our attendees could choose the Friday night/ All day Saturday for the price we've charged in the past, or they could choose the whole two days for only a small increase in the fee. We offered CPR and First Aid on Friday as one of the class selections. That class filled up and we went into overflow!

Deborah Stewart, the blogger at TeachPreschool.com was our keynote presenter. She was full of the vim and vigor of letting children Create!

Alinda Wiarda was our Conference Chair and lead the team with aplomb. Every little bump in the road was met with confidence and positive energy. What a joy she was to the whole team - managing the details without micromanaging! That's a feat and she was amazing, even down to Deborah missing her first flight and then having to juggle projectors from room to room because of one failing.

Marisol Summers and her mom, Marty, delighted us with outstanding decor, as they always do when they take on the task. Beautiful Oops! was our theme book which every attendee received, courtesy of Vern Eide Motorcars in Sioux Falls. This business is extremely supportive of quality care for children and were thrilled to be able to support this literary outreach to our children. Beautiful Oops fit perfectly in our Friday night theme, chaired by Pam Stefanich. Discount School Supply donated the materials for the centerpieces which were then given as door prizes to our attendees. Kaplan and other businesses gave silent auction prizes which were used to raise funds for our education department. From the door prizes to the beautiful quilt Sherry Petrik handcrafted and donated as a raffle prize, we had a wonderful time. Our vendors were varied and supportive with even more door prizes and a great opportunity to shop. Our two day event enabled all of us to step back, breathe, and have great conversations together. What a fabulous time it was to connect with those who do what we do, every day, and face similar challenges, even when our settings are so varied. From home care to group homes, to small and large centers, all of us work with the same little people and we had an amazing time learning through each other's experiences.

On Friday Evening, May 9, 2014, we held our Beautiful Oops! Celebration. We spent time learning how can we creatively turn mistakes and accidents into amazing results that we would not have achieved without the "Oops!" We had lots of fun creating and then we were each presented our own copy of the wonderful book Beautiful Oops through the generous contribution of Vern Eide Motorcars of Sioux Falls, SD. Bruce Eide is a huge proponent of quality care for children and he expresses his concern and interest in BIG ways. We appreciate his support of the providers who attended our conference!
